Hey everyone <3 this week we are visiting The Blooms Garden in Baliā¦
The Blooms Garden opened in 2019 and is curated to satisfy every tourist personality. From ATV rides, to Instagram-worthy villas where you can stay and wake up to mountainous views, Dutch windmills, Hindu statues and an inevitable swing (for the sole purpose of posting yourself on the swing to all the socials).
Nico and I passed by on our way to Ubud and decided to pop in and check it out. The gardens are divided into a few main themes: Garden of Love, Dutch Garden, Oval Garden, The Goddess of the Lake, Peacock Garden and Topiary Barong Garden. They are on a hillside, providing a stunning view of Mount Batukaru from every angle.
A statue of the Dewi Danu, a symbol of fertility in Hinduism, overlooks the entirety of the garden.
Blooms pays homage to Baliās colonial past with a Dutch garden, complete with two windmills.
I love the stonework on all the pathways throughout the gardens, it adds an Alice in Wonderland element to the experience.
The love gardens, as if stepping into a Valentineās fever dream, complete with scores of red and pink flowers, such as canna lilies and wax begonias.
Ladyās slipper vines growing along one of the many beautiful flower archways throughout the gardens.
Some bright canna lilies stealing the show by the floral archways.

I believe this is the statue of Bhoma, a god of the jungle and prominent in Balinese Hinduism. He is a protector and is often placed atop the entranceways to temples.
A pathway leading directly into the mountain view, with the statue of Dewi Danu on the left. Dewi Danu is also known as the goddess of the lake, the gardens are located near the Beratan Lake Bedugul, a magnificent lake known for its temple along the water.
There are a few fountains throughout the gardens, Balinese culture is intrinsically linked with the element of water. From being an island, to having heavy rains for many months of the year, water is considered sacred. Fountains are often found in many temples and their holy water is used in purification rituals.

You can get lost in a garden labyrinthā¦
Fancy a trip to The Shire?
You can actually stay in the gardens, the identical row of villas in the photograph below are The Blooms Villas. Wake up to the misty views of the mountain, enjoy a spectacular sunset, all within the serenity of staying in the botanical garden itself.
There is also a restaurant on site where you can indulge in some treats with a view, we had some drinks before heading to our hotel in Ubud. Since the gardens are fairly new, there are always new things to enjoy as the garden grows. Keep an eye on their social media for updates if you end up travelling in the region!
Some things nourishing me lately:
Beach views
lymphatic drainage
poetās narcissus
fish and chips
seasonally appropriate Ć©ric rohmer (for those who donāt know, he has a film for each of the four seasons - on criterion channel if you also want to partake)
gelato
wisteria content always, this time in Haarlem
too lazy to bike through the dutch tulip fields this year
Thank you so much for being here <3 See you next week for a visit to Ubud and its rice terraces.
