57. The 2023 RHS Chelsea Flower Show!
Botanical inspiration, pollinator plant trends and a garden travel video tour of the world's most famous flower show based in London
Last week I spent a day as a sardine at the Royal Horticultural Society’s Chelsea Flower Show in London. Squished in between drunken sunhats and sloshily loud pimms cups - a direct contrast from my annoyingly hydrated self, toting green juices and coconut water from Pimlico Daylesford - I was determined to slither my way to the front of each exhibition. Overall it was a wonderful experience and beautiful to see so many garden lovers in one space, where sustainability and preserving the natural world are at the forefront of many minds.
Inaugurating my first official Youtube Video (not in any way an attempt to get into the Youtuber realm as that looks like the fastest way to burnout, more like another way to share content with you all <3) is a compilation of all the memorable moments from the Flower Show. I figured if you were interested in the show to begin with, you have already been drowning in all these articles documenting the common thread throughout many show garden displays - a shift towards indigenous pollinating landscape design. So instead I’d like to invite you directly into the show, as if you were walking along the madness with me, oh and of course there was a Monty Don sighting. It’s set to some Sims-like bossa nova elevator music, in keeping with the chill vibes Sundays should maintain.
Pour yourself a cup of whatever (or my preferred method - popping an edible) and enjoy the show…
I’ll be back into the Bali Garden Travel series next week, with a visit to the Bali Botanical Garden, the largest botanical garden in Indonesia. Have a wonderful week!
