61. A visit to the ELTE Füvészkert - a Botanical Garden in Budapest
Another garden travel vlog!
Hello everyone! This past Spring I joined my dad last minute for a sojourn to Hungary to catch up with family we haven’t seen in ages, and also hang out with each other on his way back to Canada after his few months in India. We always try to find a botanical garden to peruse during our father-daughter trips and this holiday in Budapest led us to the ELTE Füvészkert….
The ELTE Füvészkert (to simplify the Hungarian translation: Füvész means botanist and kert means garden with a purpose - I think), is the country’s oldest official botanical garden. It dates back to 1771 when chemist and botanist Winterl Jakab cultivated 3.5 hectares of plants in Budapest. We visited on an overcast spring day, which I’ve condensed into a walk-through garden travel vlog for you to enjoy. Apologies if you weren’t able to access it through the substack email, below is the correct link <3
If you want to support the ELTE Füvészkert, you can ‘adopt’ a plant where your donation will go towards maintaining the gardens and botanical research. Learn more about that here.
See you next time for a recap of my recent travels to the lush and moody region of Brittany, France <3 have a wonderful week!
